A brand name or a trademark of a company or a product is one of the most important in selling something. You can't just pick a name for something specially if the name you've picked is registered by someone already.
A post from a freelancers blog is about an email explaining how Apple used their money and influence to get registered names for their purpose forcefully and arrogantly. It was back in 2007 when the "iPhone" name was owned by Cisco, and their latest product the "iPad" is registered under "Fujitsu". What Apple did to get these brand names is on the link below.
