OsBTI IT Support Interview

By Interviewer at 11/29/07 23:17

Name of your website?

OsBTI IT Support

Your name?

Frank

Your Location (city, etc)

Melbourne

Please give us a short summary of your website?

OsBTI provides IT Support, consulting, systems integration, design and implementation services across a diverse spectrum of technologies including VoIP, unix, virtualization and Microsoft platforms.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

As a technology business, an online presence is a must, it was a challenge to create an intuitive presence on the web with a useful website that would assist both our clients and new end users.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Excellent question. A lot was determined by whether or not we could secure a name for: both .com and .com.au and also secure it in Australias local company registry while at the same time conveying the meaning and purpose of our company in one go. OsBTI stands for: Outsourcing Business Technologies International.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Many answers to this but above all, experience and resources. There are hundreds of IT companies but few with the experience in Leadership for the company itself and the talent and know-how in securing the best talent to deliver tier1 value-add outcomes for their clients.

Above all, our people matter most and enable us to consistently deliver professional services that set standards for others to follow in our industry.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Secure and build upon our online presence and branding -- long term (5-10 Yrs plus) would be to have a strong, highly useful section of our website that will serve as a valuable resource in terms of information to both clients, individual IT engineers and the General public.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Initial thoughts show an imbalance, however as we continually make effots to improve the site and build presence, we're now seeing a direct financial result as well.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Content in form of Q & A response section for engineers and a blog.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, but only if the site was returning financial results that would provide logic reason to continue its growth at the additional cost that comes with it.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Site layout was the headache, creating something that works without using ridiculous amounts of Javascript. Making a piece of text or an image + text appear where you want it, how you want it, can sometimes be mind-numbingly painful.

What has been your biggest challenge?

SEO.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Deciding to use white-hat only methods.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

1 Year.

How long did I spend filling out this blog?

24 Minutes:)

What is your website address?

OsBTI IT Support
