Mac Compatible Web Cam Interview

By Interviewer at 12/18/07 03:57

Name of your website?

Mac Compatible Web Cam

Your name?

DoctorMac - Palm Springs

Your Location (city, etc)

Palm Springs, CA

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Site to help Apple Mac users buy video web cams that are _fully compatible_ with the Mac and just work. The vast majority of webcams are only supported on Windows PCs.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

The relentless desire to figure out how to make money in my sleep. I've blown 1001 opportunities to secure my finiancial well-being since the dawn of the internet. I'm finally waking up to the possibilities - and beginning to act on them.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

A personal site; a 'Vanity' site as they were called back in the early 90's. Nowadays 'Social Networking Sites' and blogs create such pages for you easily.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I feel that hyphenated domain names with good, well-researched keywords help a site get recognized in search results.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

My site is very Apple Mac specific, addresses a niche market. Also voice and video conferencing are the next wave - beginning to replace email for many people. Why type when you can just say it?!?

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Hope that the occasional affiliate commissions might help me afford health insurance.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

It's alot of time and work to get running initially.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I _might_ spend a little bit more on website promotion. But most just arent' worth it. There's soooo many good sites to get free listings on - many better than places you might pay for!

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

My site is self-maintaining. Other than slight changes to a few product links, all I have to do is wake up in the morning and see if I've earned any commissions.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Initial hosting, registration and domain fees are my only 'costs', whether click-throughs and purchases will justify it remain to be seen.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Coping with advances to HTML. I still use the same old basic tags I used a decade ago with my first website! I still code with a simple text editor.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I won't give out that secret! But years of trying and seeing what sites matter and what don't to get listed in search results has me with a short but very valuable hitlist. Directory.Classifieds1000.com is one of my top-10 sites to get listed on ASAP. Other search engines index it quickly. I know which referring sites MATTER.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

They can be a real time-pit. It's hard (and foolish) to just set-it-and-forget-it -- but a well crafted site can work FOR you 24hrs a day with little intervention.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I just put up my http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com/ site tonight. It'll be fun in the days ahead to see how it get's picked up and indexed.

Why did you take the time to answer all these questions?

Because I appreciate Classified1000.com. It gives me visibility on the web, I'm willing to give something back to the Global Village the internet has given us. Peace and Love to all people, all nations out there!

What is your website address?

UVC - Universal Video Class USB webcams compatible w/ Apple Macintosh as an alternative to finding where to buy a used Apple iSight Firewire camera - no drivers needed - for use w/ iChat Yahoo Messenger ISPQ video conferencing should be mentioned. Why? Because this interview got picked up in a matter of days and critical kwords relating to Mac USB 2.0 UVC supported web cams and Macintosh video chat applications can be added by merely posting a comment! :)
