Success with other websites adressing niche consumer electronics / computer peripheral markets

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

A personal website back at the dawn of the internet: Back in the Mosaic Telnet days before Netscape etc

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Keyword research: Knowing what people are looking for before choosing a name

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Alot of affiliate sites are just loaded with links, banners. I try to make mine more human, friendly, informal informative

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To help computer tech folk interested in the fastest disk drive technology learn, find and buy SSD drives. They are the future of storage - first for notebooks, then desktop systems. Some day flash memory drives will overtake hard drives with spinning platters.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I've got it down to an art: Quickly building a website and getting it seen on the internet in mere days not weeks.

I'd hire a designer to help with site aesthetics, navigation

Not an issue. I build set-it forget-it sites. I provide info, but I don't invite contact, email, provide tech support, etc.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Keeping up with advances in HTML

What has been your biggest challenge?

Always trying to keep up with endless rapid technology CHANGE. It never stops. Keep up or get left behind.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Using modern website apps with gorgeous built-in templates helps alot.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

Only been up 10 days, but the momentum is starting to build. As long as it generates click-thrus and revenue. I'll keep it running indefinitely. Only maintenance is to update & add new SSD disk drive links as new flash disk products come onto the market.
