BoxAid-Remote PC Support Interview

By Interviewer at 12/30/08 12:46

Name of your website?

BoxAid-Remote PC Support

Your name?

George

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We fix your PC right over the Internet in real time. No need to pack it up and take it to a store or have someone visit you. Virus and spyware cleanup, slow machines, or basic instruction, anytime anywhere. If we don't fix it you don't pay.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I've had several websites over the years and this is just one more. We have been providing the service for a while and figured it was time to expand and reach a larger audience.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Wow, I would say 1998 or so, it was also a computer consulting website. It was very primitive and created with MS frontpage. Everyone was still learning back then.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

it came down to the names available....i wanted a .com and not a .us or .net so after tons of searching we came up with boxaid.com, short to the point and easy to remember.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

i would like to say its simplicity. there are several other offerings with the same concept but some of them you have to sign up for a monthly fee, or a yearly program. some of them you have create a user account and password, etc.....boxaid is for the technically challenged and just simply requires a phone call. no username or password, no creating an account or signing up for some yearly program when i only have one question.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Keep it for income. The technicians who answer the phone are compensated using an incentive based plan so they have monetary incentive to answer/solve peoples problems. Other technicians get paid hourly and are not as vested if they don't have incentive. Its a great model that should yield a significant profit.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

At boxaid we do it for the love of technology...its hard to measure success...its not always about money. i measure success by knowing that we solve countless problems and make sure our customers are happy.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Not sure yet.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

The model is easy to expand because there is no central office which keeps costs low. Hiring new technicians can be easy because they all work from home. No equipment or overhead to buy. All you need is a computer and calls are routed to your phone.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

not many

What has been your biggest challenge?

getting listed on google. google takes forever to list urls and its a pain

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

link exchanges.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

its exactly what i expected.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

its been up for a few months now and i have no intention of taking it down cause we already have a significant customer base.

What is your website address?
