Perhaps it is not obvious to us consumers, but everything that we do in the Internet consume much more electricity than what we personally use at home. This is due to the fact that the date we acquire in the Internet is powered by data centers across the globe, which consume millions of kilowatt-hours. Conservative measures have to take place if we want to conserve--as in really conserve--energy.
